Export GA4 Data To Google Sheets

In this post, I will show you how you can export GA4 data in Google Sheets.

In addition to Google Sheets, you can export data in PDF or CSV format as well as send the entire data stream to BigQuery.

Note: To share or export a report, you will need the Viewer role or higher role at the property level.

Export and Downloading a report

  1. Go to the Report that you want to export or download.
  2. In the top right of a report, click on the "Share" icon.
  3. Select Download File from the options that open up.
  4. Select from these options:
    • Download CSV
    • Export to Google Sheets

  5. If you select Download PDF or Download CSV then check the "Download" folder on your computer when the download is complete
  6. If you select Google Sheets then Google Sheets will open up with your data.

A report as a CSV or Google sheet, the file includes up to 5,000 rows of data.

Exporting To BigQuery

I am a big fan of exporting the data to BigQuery.  Having granular data in BigQuery opens up a lot of possibilities for deeper analysis, targeting, and personalization.  We also use data in BigQuery to debug GA4 issues that are very difficult to solve in the GA4 interface.
